I watched with interest the discussion about spending a large sum of money for pool covers that will save the city this same amout of money in utility bills.

First of all, if you have to pay someone $350,000 for pool covers to save you $350,000 in utility bills,,,, how are you saving any money at all? It seems to me, at best, the city is simply paying someone else the same amount of money.

Second, what is the life span of these pool covers? Are we going to be buying new ones in a few years costing even more money??

Not city money well spent....

Hey, Dude-
Love the avatar! Now my question is-- why would you think that our city money would EVER be well spent? Those councilors - they just love to spend our money- the more, the merrier! Why do you think they gave the irrigation project design (not the project itself but the design, mind you) to Coffey, the highest bidder? Because he is local? Oh no, well, sort of, ....... because in a (design) emergency, he could get there within an hour. Really? Where did he have to get to? The drawing board? I DID NOT MAKE THIS UP - THAT'S WHAT THEY SAID IN THE MEETING -THAT THERE COULD BE AN EMERGENCY AND THAT'S WHY WE NEEDED TO HAVE A LOCAL COMPANY, and at the same time noting that most of Coffey's experts were in Colorado! And even Klaus wondered about the cost and why it was so much higher than the other bids ($21,000 versus $7,000) and why staff suggested they go with the highest bid, and he still voted for it, and so did the other rubber-stampers. It was hard to hear but I think that only Michelson voted against it.

On another note, Mayor Jodi, having been recently chastised by several important members of the community for not allowing public comment until after the meeting, noticed that there were two people in the audience who were not Tim Hale and informed them that they were welcome to speak to the council at any time. (They declined.)
